I spent this morning propelling myself round a very pretty rural 10K course in and around Uttoxeter. It was described in the promo material as 'undulating' - which I now understand is runner code for 'hills but not hardcore hills.'
With that topography in mind, together with the fact that my training regime had not been the most rigorous, I'm pretty happy with a run time of approximately 1 hour, 1 minute and 40 seconds. A good four minutes slower than my best time in a proper race, but I'll take it!

A quick note on the Tamworth 10K
Last Sunday I ran the Tamworth 10K in 57 minutes, 40 seconds, my second 10K of the year. In fact, my second 10K ever.
This was nearly 4 minutes quicker than my performance in the Lichfield 10K last month. Despite having trained less, I ended up running less cautiously and it showed in the time I achieved.
This shows that if I can combine a good fitness regime in the build up to a future race with maintaining a steady pace in the run itself I can hopefully shave a few more minutes off my time without too much difficulty.
